Visit Las Vegas and Have a Great Time

Visit Las Vegas and Have a Great Time

by Mike Mulkern

Las Vegas is the entertainment capital of the United States, located in Nevada. There is something for everyone there. Originally limited to gambling and prostitution, Las vegas is now fun for the whole family with wide varieties of resorts, shopping, restaurants, nightclubs and amusement parks. Las Vegas is home to over 500,000 residents but may have over 100,000 visitors at a time.

Being the only state in the United States to allow legalized gambling, Nevada attracts people from all over the country and world to the Las Vegas casinos. Many movies and television shows feature Las Vegas and its nightlife. The Las Vegas Strip, where most of the action is, is lit up in neon lights.

Bugsy Siegel's Flamingo Hotel became the first hotel on the Las Vegas Strip in 1946. Nevada had already legalized gambling and this hotel was the first of many with their casinos to open. Las Vegas, which became a city in 1911, was beginning to grow.

Today there is a huge variety of motels, hotels, and resorts to stay depending on your budget and lifestyle. The large mega-hotels are ultra luxurious but are very costly. If you have a car and can stay off the strip you can get a nice hotel at a good price.

In the middle of treeless mountains in an entirely flat valley, Las Vegas offers all sorts of photo opportunities for visitors. The lights that are put off by the city ans well as the active streets are an amazing sight to behold. There are a million things for the tourist to do all in one cluster. You can go from your hotel room to a casino in a matter of minutes in Vegas as most all hotels have their own casinos right off the main lobby area.

Many people go to Las Vegas just for the casinos and you should at least stop in to see what is going on. Get lessons on the gaming if you need to and join the action. If you don't have a stash of money, try the slot machines for a little fun and take in all the action going on around you. Be sure to check out the world famous nightclub acts while you are there.

If you have time, get in your car and travel around the area. Hoover Dam and Lake Mead are only 30 miles from Las Vegas and is a must see if you are in the area. So, for something very different and exciting, make a vacation to Las Vegas a priority.
