There is alot of talk about SEO (search engine marketing) but not many specific for vacation rental marketing, until now.
As owner and creator of Your Travel Buddy Vacation Rentals, a free vacation rental listing service, we had to implement all known and unknown seo tatics to get our free vacation rental listing site ranked quickly.
In only 2 months of being online, Your Travel Buddy is ranked on the first page on MSN Serach, on page 20 on Google and on page 7 for Yahoo for certain keywords.
This is an accomplishment because there are tens of thounsands of vacation rental sites and to be on page 20 of Google is a nice accomplishment, and expect to climb to the top 5 pages after our next crawl.
This was done utilizing the normal seo tactics, such as having a conent rich site, and proper keywords, and meta tags, but the most important issue was writing articles for my blogs and several article directories which helped create virual marketing and quality backlinks as my articles have been republished by 100's of bloggers and other websites.
Free press releases also helped to spread the word and also cretaed high quality back links. When promoting your vacation rental, do not forget to utilized the free press release services available on the internet.
Also, you need to make sure you do the basics of submitting your website URL to the majior search engines and also DMOZ, even though there is no guarentee that you will be listed on DMOZ.
