by Alain Schuster
When you are searching online for various different ski resorts in PA where you can vacation on your next winter holiday there are plenty to select from. They are all situated within three specific geographical areas of the state of Pennsylvania and so are all easily accessible.
There are those resorts which are located in the eastern part of the County in the Pocono Mountains, there are some to the West in the Alleghenies Mountains. Then there are those to the south located in mountain region close to the towns of Harrisburg and Gettysburg.
The advantage that the resorts in the Poconos have over those situated in the other areas is that they are close to the states much larger cities including New York City and Philadelphia. Whilst those towards the west are situated closer to Pittsburgh, Ohio and West Virginia. Whilst the final resorts that are located in the southern part of the state are ideally situated for those coming from Washington DC or Baltimore.
In this article we take a brief look at a number of the resorts which are proving to be popular with skiers not just living in the US but from around the globe.
Bear Creek Mountain Resort - Is situated in the south eastern part of Pennsylvania and is only 65 miles away from Philadelphia and 95 miles from New York City. It has many different ski runs and the longest of them all is 1.5 miles. As well as offering facilities for skiing this resort allows you to try out snowboarding and snow tubing throughout the winter months.
Camelback Ski Resort - Situated in the north eastern part of Pennsylvania State right in the heart of the Pocono Mountains. Just like Bear Creek not only can one spend time skiing, but also snowboarding and snow tubing as well. However it is not situated as close to the cities of New York City and Philadelphia. From New York City the resort is 80 miles away and from Philadelphia it is 90 miles.
Shawnee Mountain Ski Resort - This one is actually situated some distance from both New York City and Philadelphia but is still one to be found in the Pocono Mountains. However, compared to some of the other resorts this is relatively easy to get to as it is situated close to the highway known as I-80 (Interstate 80). As with all the resorts mentioned in this article Shawnee Mountain has skiing facilities available to suit a wide range of skiing abilities.
When it comes to arranging a winter skiing vacation because there are so many different ski resorts in PA to choose from, you will find yourself spoilt for choice. Along with those we have already mentioned other resorts that are worth considering vacationing at in Pennsylvania include the Tanglwood Resort, the Ski Sawmill Family Resort and the Seven Springs Mountain Resort.
