“Calendar Girls” of Newaygo County Mi
Twelve Newaygo County, Michigan, business owners got together in the fall of 2009 and formed a women’s group that they could get together and socialize, network, help each other, and give back to the community with impact. They proudly named their group “Women Business Owners of Newaygo” and began meeting bi-weekly and planning their 1st project to raise money ($15,000.oo) for the NCCS Camp Newaygo resident girl’s camp by way of selling 2010 personalized calendars.
NCCS Camp Newaygo has provided high quality camping programs for girls and young women since 1926. Seventy-seven years of tradition is a powerful motivator. Tradition, a rich history and keeping in step with today’s young women are reasons that four generations of campers have returned to NCCS Camp Newaygo year after year – "and this is exactly why the group chose them for their 2010 project" says Keely Friar, “Miss June” and owner of Shabby to Chic Hair Boutique. Visit http://www.campnewaygo.org/girlscamp.html for more information on the camp.
“Our group felt that using a personalized calendar is one of the most cost effective, targeted and visible forms of advertising there is. Get your message – whether charity appeal or straight forward advertising of your products or services – seen by many, every day of the year. Spread the word about your good cause and raise money at the same time. Promote your business to your customers and prospects alike.” says Rachel Wisner, “Miss July” and owner of Wisner’s Rents Canoes.
"The calendars turned out amazing! We are very proud with how this project all came together and Powershots Photography did an incredible job" says Sherri Russell, “Miss August” and owner of Hess Lake Rentals.
A special “Calendar Unveiling” event will be held at the Sportsman’s Bar and Restaurant on Saturday, July 25th, 2009 at 6:30 p.m.
Each calendar will include area events, special discounts, coupons and a group member’s photo featured for each month.
